FIVE HAIKU

summer dusk noisy crows return to the tall red pine snowmelt a dead vole on the footpath algae pond painted turtles crowd the broken logs pawprints on the muddy stream bank sting of nettles light mist the crunch of your footsteps receding

Each of Mr. Browne's haiku transported me to a natural wonderland with images so vivid that I could see, hear, feel, smell every element in those compact worlds he created. I want to revisit each over and again.
