THERE, LIGHT
Laying bare the stoniness of the heart — Poetry by J.M. Summers
THERE, LIGHT
By J.M. Summers
There, light bursting through the clouds, stilling the heart. How long we have dwelt in a land of storm and deep darkness, unable to find rest, longing to be pierced by the light, the sight of the bright field burning, battered by the winding days of the season new. Such a hard land, to lay bare the stoniness of the heart. Sheer, rocky, conversant with the wind that carries with it the chill of distant peaks, the stony gaze that stares back patiently, but knowing too that it was here that a blackbird first sang, bearing the budding branch of a land stripped bare before time's ambivalent gaze.
J.M. Summers was born and still lives in South Wales. Previous publication credits include Poetry Wales, Another Country from Gomer Press and various other magazines & anthologies. The former editor of a number of small press magazines, he is currently working on his first collection.
